who we are

The North Carolina Clinician & Physician Retention & Well-Being (NCCPRW) Consortium unites healthcare administrators, physicians, clinicians, and advocates to make clinician well-being a shared priority across our state.

We believe that supporting the people who care for others is essential to building a stronger, healthier North Carolina.

Our History

Since 2016, the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) has convened statewide partners to advance clinician and physician well-being, retention, and systemic change across healthcare institutions. Through this collaborative foundation, the Consortium began addressing stressors at the individual, organizational, and system levels, helping healthcare professionals thrive while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

In 2024, the Consortium became an independent nonprofit organization, officially forming the North Carolina Clinician & Physician Retention & Well-Being (NCCPRW) Consortium. With new funding and expanded partnerships, NCCPRW is broadening its reach—developing innovative resources, amplifying stakeholder engagement, and positioning North Carolina as a national leader in clinician well-being.

C OLLABORATION

We are stronger together. Partnering with over 100 hospitals and health systems across North Carolina, we work to reduce administrative burdens, foster supportive workplace cultures, and promote wellness and engagement among clinicians and care teams.

A DVOCACY

We champion system-level improvements in credentialing, workflows, and clinician support programs—driving meaningful, sustainable changes that create fulfilling professional environments.

R ESOURCE SHARING

We help healthcare organizations build a culture of well-being by connecting administrators and clinicians with evidence-informed tools, innovations, and best practices that make a measurable difference.

E DUCATION

We deliver accessible learning opportunities that meet clinicians where they are—online, on the go, and in person. In partnership with the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation, we offer online training courses and facilitate a learning community. In addition, we offer webinars and knowledge exchange events that promote well-being best practices and research, professional development, and connection across North Carolina’s healthcare community.

Together, we are shaping a future where clinician well-being is central to healthcare excellence in North Carolina.
